Korokke
Korokke is a popular Japanese dish made with mashed potatoes, ground meat, and vegetables, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Frozen peas - 1/4 cup
- Carrot - 1 small, finely chopped
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Ground meat (beef or pork) - 200 grams
- Potatoes - 4 medium-sized, peeled and boiled
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth.
- In a separate pan, cook the ground meat, onion, carrot, and frozen peas until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender.
- Add the cooked meat and vegetables to the mashed potatoes. Season with salt and black pepper. Mix well.
- Shape the mixture into small patties or cylinders.
- Dip each patty into the beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the korokke until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
