Khorkhog
Khorkhog is a traditional Mongolian dish made with lamb, vegetables, and hot stones.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Hot stones - 6
- Coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onions - 2, sliced
- Carrots - 4, peeled and cut into chunks
- Potatoes - 6, peeled and quartered
- Lamb shoulder - 2 kg, cut into chunks
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, combine the lamb, potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, salt, black pepper, cumin, and coriander. Mix well to coat the ingredients with the spices.
- Transfer the mixture to a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven.
- Place the hot stones on top of the mixture. Make sure the stones are heated properly and handle them with caution.
- Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and place it in the preheated oven.
- Cook for 2 hours, or until the lamb is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
- Carefully remove the hot stones from the pot using tongs.
- Serve the khorkhog hot, directly from the pot.
