Boodog
Boodog is a traditional Mongolian dish made with meat, vegetables, and hot stones.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary) - To taste
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Butter - 1/2 cup
- Hot stones - 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Bell peppers - 2, thinly sliced
- Potatoes - 4, thinly sliced
- Carrots - 2, thinly sliced
- Onions - 2 large, thinly sliced
- Lamb or beef - 2 pounds, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Season the meat with salt and pepper.
- In a large baking dish, layer the sliced onions, carrots, potatoes, and bell peppers.
- Place the seasoned meat on top of the vegetables.
- Place the hot stones on top of the meat.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter and mix in the soy sauce and minced garlic.
- Pour the butter mixture over the meat and vegetables.
- Sprinkle fresh herbs on top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 2 hours, or until the meat is cooked through and tender.
- Remove the foil and broil for a few minutes to brown the top.
- Carefully remove the hot stones before serving.
- Serve the Boodog hot and enjoy!
