Khoresh E Aloo
Khoresh-e-Aloo is a delicious Persian stew made with beef, potatoes, and a flavorful tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 2 cups
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Ground coriander - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Potatoes - 4 medium, peeled and cubed
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Beef stew meat - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is golden brown.
- Add the beef stew meat and cook until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the tomato paste, turmeric, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes to release the flavors.
- Add the cubed potatoes and water to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer for 1 hour, or until the meat is tender and the potatoes are cooked through.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Serve the Khoresh-e-Aloo hot, garnished with fresh cilantro. It pairs well with steamed rice or Iranian bread.
