Kaurapuuro
Kaurapuuro is a traditional Finnish oatmeal porridge that is creamy, comforting, and perfect for breakfast.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Cinnamon or cardamom - For topping
- Chopped nuts or seeds - For topping
- Berries or sliced fruits - For topping
- Honey or maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Rolled oats - 1 cup
- Water - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a medium-sized saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
- Add the rolled oats and salt to the boiling water, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the oats have absorbed most of the water and reached a creamy consistency, remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the milk and sweeten with honey or maple syrup according to your taste.
- Divide the kaurapuuro into serving bowls and top with berries or sliced fruits, chopped nuts or seeds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon or cardamom.
