Let's Get Started

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs.
  3. Gradually pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture, whisking until smooth.
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the skillet and cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Flip the pancake and cook the other side until golden brown, another 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove the pancake from the skillet and tear it into small pieces using two forks.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  9. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter.
  10. Return the torn pancakes to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are lightly browned and crispy.
  11. Serve the Kaiserschmarrn dusted with powdered sugar and accompanied by fruit compote.
