Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and 4 tablespoons of oil. Add water gradually to make a soft dough. Cover and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add the crushed fennel and cumin seeds. Saute for a minute.
  3. Add the ground moong dal to the pan and cook on low heat until the dal is golden brown and fragrant.
  4. Add the garam masala, red chili powder, and salt to the pan. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a small circle, place a spoonful of the dal mixture in the center, and seal the edges to form a ball.
  6. Heat oil for deep frying. Drop the kachoris in the hot oil and fry on low heat until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
