Insalata Caprese
Insalata Caprese is a simple Italian salad made of sliced fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and sweet basil, seasoned with salt, and olive oil.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Freshly ground black pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Extra-virgin olive oil - 1/4 cup
- Fresh basil leaves - 20 leaves
- Ripe tomatoes - 4 large, sliced 1/4 inch thick
- Fresh mozzarella cheese - 1 pound, sliced 1/4 inch thick
Let's Get Started
- Arrange the mozzarella slices on a large platter.
- Arrange the tomato slices on top of the mozzarella.
- Tuck whole basil leaves in between the mozzarella and tomato slices.
- Drizzle the salad with the olive oil.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately.
