Hijiki Salad
A traditional Japanese side dish made from hijiki seaweed, vegetables, and tofu, seasoned with soy sauce and mirin.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Firm tofu - 1/2 cup, cubed
- Carrot - 1, julienned
- Dried hijiki seaweed - 1/2 cup
Let's Get Started
- Soak the hijiki seaweed in water for 15 minutes, then drain and rinse.
- Heat the sesame oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the carrot and tofu and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the hijiki, soy sauce, and mirin. Cook for another 10 minutes, until the liquid is absorbed.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
