Hearty Beef Casserole
A comforting and filling casserole packed with tender beef, vegetables, and a savory sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Peas - 1 cup
- Potatoes - 4, peeled and chopped
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Bay leaf - 1
- Thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Beef broth - 4 cups
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Carrots - 3, chopped
- Onions - 2, chopped
- Stewing beef - 1 kg, cut into chunks
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- In a large casserole dish, brown the beef in batches, then remove and set aside.
- In the same dish, cook the onions, carrots, and garlic until softened.
- Return the beef to the dish, then add the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Cover the dish and place in the oven for 1.5 hours.
- Remove the dish from the oven and stir in the potatoes and peas.
- Cover the dish again and return to the oven for another 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
- Remove the bay leaf before serving.
