Ham and Bean Soup
A hearty and comforting soup made with ham, beans, and vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Bay leaves - 2
- Chicken broth - 6 cups
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Celery - 2 stalks, chopped
- Carrots - 2, chopped
- Onion - 1, chopped
- Dried white beans - 2 cups
- Ham bone - 1
Let's Get Started
- Place the ham bone, beans, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, broth, and bay leaves in a large pot.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, or until the beans are tender.
- Remove the ham bone from the pot and let it cool. Once cool, remove any meat from the bone and chop it into small pieces.
- Return the chopped ham to the pot and season with salt and pepper.
- Continue to simmer the soup for another 30 minutes, then serve.
