Gougères
Gougères are a French cheese puff made with a choux pastry and Gruyère cheese. They are a perfect appetizer for any occasion.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Gruyère cheese - 1 cup, grated
- Eggs - 4 large
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once the mixture is boiling, add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a ball.
- Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
- Stir in the grated cheese.
- Drop by tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
- Serve warm.
