Galette Des Rois
Galette des Rois, also known as King's Cake, is a traditional French pastry made with puff pastry and almond filling.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Powdered sugar - For dusting
- Almond extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Eggs - 2
- Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup, softened
- Granulated sugar - 3/4 cup
- Almond flour - 1 cup
- Puff pastry - 2 sheets
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, granulated sugar, softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix until well combined.
- Place one sheet of puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the almond filling evenly on top of the puff pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
- Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top and press the edges to seal.
- Using a sharp knife, make decorative cuts on the top of the galette.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
- Traditionally, a small figurine or bean is hidden inside the galette. The person who finds it in their slice is crowned the king or queen for the day!
