Gai Yang, or Thai Grilled Chicken, is a flavorful dish that's marinated in a sauce made from lemongrass, garlic, and fish sauce before being grilled to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Coriander roots - 2, chopped
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Lemongrass - 2 stalks, minced
- Chicken - 4 pieces, bone-in
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the minced lemongrass, minced garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, black pepper, and chopped coriander roots.
- Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and mix well to coat the chicken in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat a grill to medium heat.
- Grill the chicken pieces for about 20 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy and golden.
- Serve the Gai Yang with a side of sticky rice and Thai sweet chili sauce.
