Fried Oysters

Ingredients - Serves 4
- Tartar sauce - For serving
- Lemon wedges - For serving
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2, beaten
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Fresh oysters - 12, shucked
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the oysters in cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, and pepper.
- In another dish, beat the eggs.
- In a third dish, spread out the breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each oyster in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan to 375°F.
- Fry the oysters in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
