This delicious sandwich combines crispy fried chicken and fluffy waffles for the perfect sweet and savory combination.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Lettuce - 4 leaves
- Maple syrup - 1/4 cup
- Waffle mix - 1 cup
- Vegetable oil - 2 cups, for frying
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Buttermilk - 1 cup
- Chicken breasts - 2, boneless and skinless
Let's Get Started
- Place the chicken breasts in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Let them marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- In a shallow dish, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken breasts from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off, and dredge them in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere.
- Carefully place the chicken breasts in the hot oil and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Prepare the waffle mix according to the package instructions.
- Preheat a waffle iron and cook the waffles until golden and crispy.
- To assemble the sandwich, spread mayonnaise on one side of each waffle.
- Place a fried chicken breast on one waffle, top with lettuce, tomato slices, and drizzle with maple syrup.
- Place another waffle on top to create the sandwich.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
