Feijão de Leite

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the soaked beans and place them in a large pot. Add enough water to cover the beans by about 2 inches.
  2. Bring the beans to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 1 hour, or until the beans are tender.
  3. In a separate pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until they are soft and fragrant.
  4. Add the sautéed onion and garlic, bay leaf, salt, and pepper to the pot with the beans. Stir well.
  5. Pour in the milk and stir again. Continue to cook the beans on low heat for another hour, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste the beans and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve the Feijão de Leite hot, with rice or bread on the side.
