Farofa
Farofa is a traditional Brazilian side dish made with toasted cassava flour and various ingredients.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Bacon - 4 slices, cooked and crumbled
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Cassava flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the butter and let it melt.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the cassava flour to the skillet and stir well to combine with the onion and garlic mixture.
- Continue stirring and toasting the cassava flour for about 5 minutes, or until it turns golden brown.
- Add the crumbled bacon, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the farofa.
- Serve hot as a side dish with your favorite Brazilian meal.
