Escondidinho de Bacalhau
Escondidinho de Bacalhau is a traditional Brazilian dish made with layers of dried and salted cod, mashed cassava, and cheese.

- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Mozzarella cheese - 200 grams, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, chopped
- Cream - 200 milliliters
- Butter - 100 grams
- Cassava - 1 kilogram
- Dried and salted cod - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Soak the cod in cold water for 24 hours, changing the water several times.
- Boil the cassava until soft, then mash with the butter and cream. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
- Add the cod to the pan and cook until it flakes easily.
- In a baking dish, layer half the mashed cassava, the cod, and then the remaining cassava.
- Top with the grated cheese and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
