Dutch Meatballs
These traditional Dutch meatballs, also known as 'Gehaktballen', are juicy, tender and full of flavor. They are typically served with boiled potatoes and vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Beef broth - 1 cup
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Egg - 1
- Milk - 1/4 cup
- Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into 4 large meatballs.
- Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.
- Add the beef broth to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs with the broth.
