  1. In a saucepan, combine the corn syrup, sugar, water, maltose, and vinegar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue boiling until it reaches 270°F (the soft-crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
  3. Pour the hot syrup onto a cornstarch-dusted marble slab or baking sheet. Allow it to cool until it can be handled, about 15 minutes.
  4. When the candy is cool enough to handle, stretch it out into a long rope. Fold it over and twist. Repeat this process until you have a thin, thread-like strand.
  5. Cut the candy into small pieces and roll them in the peanut powder and coconut flakes.
  6. Serve the candy immediately or store it in an airtight container.
