Douhua
Douhua is a traditional Chinese dessert made from very soft tofu. It is also referred to as tofu pudding or tofu jelly.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sugar syrup - To taste
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Gypsum powder - 1 teaspoon
- Soy milk - 4 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a pot, heat the soy milk until it is hot but not boiling.
- In a separate bowl, mix the gypsum powder and cornstarch with water until there are no lumps.
- Slowly pour the hot soy milk into the gypsum mixture, stirring constantly.
- Cover the mixture and let it sit for about an hour until it solidifies into a soft jelly.
- Cut the tofu jelly into small pieces and serve with sugar syrup to taste.
