- Egg - 1
- Milk - 1 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 2 teaspoons
- Granulated sugar - 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour - 3 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 2-3 minutes, until smooth.
- Roll out the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness and cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter or a round cookie cutter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop the doughnuts into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
- Dip each doughnut into the glaze, coating both sides, and place them on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
- Serve the doughnuts fresh and enjoy!
