Dashi Maki Tamago is a traditional Japanese dish that is often served for breakfast or included in a bento lunch. It's a rolled omelette with dashi soup stock and soy sauce, giving it a unique and delicious flavor.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - A pinch
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Dashi soup stock - 3 tablespoons
- Eggs - 4
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, beat the eggs. Add the dashi soup stock, soy sauce, sugar, and salt, and mix well.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
- Pour a thin layer of the egg mixture into the pan and spread it evenly.
- When the egg starts to set, roll it up from one side of the pan to the other.
- Move the rolled egg to one side of the pan. Oil the empty part of the pan and pour in another layer of the egg mixture. Lift the rolled egg to let the mixture flow underneath.
- When the new layer of egg starts to set, roll the egg again, starting from the side with the rolled egg.
- Repeat this process until all the egg mixture is used.
- Remove the omelette from the pan and let it cool. Then cut it into thick slices and serve.
