Crab and Grits
This delicious dish combines succulent crab meat with creamy grits for a flavorful and satisfying meal.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lemon wedges - For serving
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Old bay seasoning - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 4, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Heavy cream - 1/2 cup
- Chicken broth - 2 cups
- Grits - 1 cup, stone-ground
- Crab meat - 1 pound, lump or claw meat
Let's Get Started
- In a medium saucepan, bring the chicken broth to a boil.
- Slowly whisk in the grits and reduce the heat to low.
- Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the grits are tender and creamy.
- In a separate skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped green onions, and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the crab meat and Old Bay seasoning to the skillet, and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- To serve, spoon the creamy grits onto plates or bowls.
- Top with the crab mixture and garnish with additional chopped green onions.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
