Charcoal Grilled Octopus
A Mediterranean delicacy, this charcoal-grilled octopus recipe is tender, smoky, and perfect for a summer barbecue.

- Lemon wedges - For serving
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Oregano - 1 tablespoon, dried
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil - 1/4 cup
- Octopus - 1 whole, cleaned
Let's Get Started
- Prepare the octopus by removing the beak and eyes, then washing thoroughly under cold water.
- Place the octopus in a large pot of boiling water and cook for about 20 minutes, or until tender.
- Remove the octopus from the pot and let it cool.
- Once cooled, cut the octopus into large pieces.
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the octopus pieces and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat your charcoal grill. Once hot, grill the octopus pieces for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they have a nice char.
- Serve the grilled octopus with lemon wedges on the side.
