Carne Louca
Carne Louca, or 'Crazy Meat', is a traditional Brazilian dish made with shredded beef in a flavorful tomato sauce. It's perfect for sandwiches and can be served hot or cold.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Bay leaves - 2
- Tomato sauce - 1 cup
- Tomatoes - 4, chopped
- Bell peppers - 2, chopped
- Garlic cloves - 4, minced
- Onions - 2, chopped
- Beef brisket - 1.5 kg
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the beef brisket and brown on all sides.
- Add the onions and garlic to the pot and cook until the onions are translucent.
- Add the bell peppers, tomatoes, tomato sauce, bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Let the meat simmer for about 2 hours, or until it is tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
- Remove the meat from the pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded meat to the pot and stir to combine with the sauce.
- Serve the Carne Louca hot, or let it cool and serve it cold as a sandwich filling.
