Let's Get Started

  1. In a saucepan, bring the milk, vanilla pod, and butter to a boil.
  2. In a bowl, mix the eggs, rum, flour, and sugar.
  3. Gradually add the hot milk mixture to the bowl, stirring constantly.
  4. Let the batter rest for 24 hours in the refrigerator.
  5. Preheat the oven to 250°C.
  6. Melt the beeswax and use it to grease the canelé molds.
  7. Fill the molds with the batter and bake for 10 minutes.
  8. Lower the oven temperature to 180°C and bake for another 50 minutes.
  9. Let the canelés cool before removing them from the molds.
