Canelones
Canelones are a traditional Spanish dish made with pasta tubes filled with a delicious meat and cheese mixture, topped with a creamy béchamel sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Milk - 1/4 cup
- Bread crumbs - 1/4 cup
- Egg - 1
- Mozzarella cheese - 1 cup, shredded
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Tomato sauce - 2 cups
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 500 grams
- Cannelloni tubes - 12
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Cook the cannelloni tubes according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened.
- Add the tomato sauce, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, egg, bread crumbs, and milk.
- Stuff the cooked cannelloni tubes with the meat mixture using a spoon or piping bag.
- Place the stuffed cannelloni tubes in a greased baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until thickened. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the béchamel sauce over the stuffed cannelloni tubes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
