Cabbage Casserole
This hearty cabbage casserole is made with layers of cabbage, ground beef, and creamy cheese sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Butter - 2 tablespoons, melted
- Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Cheddar cheese - 1 cup, shredded
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
- Tomato sauce - 1 can (15 ounces)
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, chopped
- Ground beef - 1 pound
- Cabbage - 1 medium head, shredded
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the shredded cabbage. Top with half of the ground beef mixture. Repeat the layers with the remaining cabbage and ground beef mixture.
- In a small bowl, mix together the cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and melted butter. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
