Brussels Sprouts Gratin
A delicious and creamy side dish of Brussels sprouts topped with a crispy, cheesy crust.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Gruyere cheese - 1 cup, grated
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Milk - 1.5 cups
- Flour - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Brussels sprouts - 1.5 pounds, trimmed and halved
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Boil the Brussels sprouts for 5 minutes, then drain.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a boil and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Stir in half of the Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses.
- Add the Brussels sprouts to the sauce and stir to coat.
- Transfer to a baking dish and top with the remaining cheeses.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
