Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. In a large oven-safe pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Season the pork belly with salt and pepper, then sear it in the pot until browned on all sides.
  4. Remove the pork belly from the pot and set aside.
  5. In the same pot, add the garlic and ginger, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, star anise, cinnamon stick, and chicken broth to the pot. Stir to combine.
  7. Return the pork belly to the pot, cover with a lid, and transfer to the preheated oven.
  8. Braise the pork belly in the oven for 2.5-3 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart.
  9. Remove the pot from the oven and let the pork belly rest for a few minutes.
  10. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the pork belly to a cutting board and slice into desired portions.
  11. Serve the braised pork belly with the sauce from the pot, garnished with chopped green onions.
  12. Enjoy!
