- Black walnuts - 1 cup, chopped
- Buttermilk - 1 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Eggs - 3
- Granulated sugar - 1 1/2 cups
- Unsalted butter - 1 cup, softened

- Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
