Beef Ribs with Caramelized Shallot Sauce
Tender beef ribs served with a rich, sweet and savory caramelized shallot sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Bay leaf - 1
- Thyme - 2 sprigs
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Beef broth - 2 cups
- Red wine - 1 cup
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 6, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Beef ribs - 4 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 300°F.
- Season the beef ribs with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat. Add the ribs and brown on all sides. Remove the ribs and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the shallots and garlic. Cook until the shallots are caramelized.
- Add the red wine to the pot, scraping the bottom to loosen any browned bits.
- Add the beef broth, brown sugar, thyme, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the ribs to the pot. Cover and transfer to the oven.
- Bake for 2.5-3 hours, or until the ribs are tender.
- Remove the thyme and bay leaf. Serve the ribs with the caramelized shallot sauce.
