Barbecue Tempeh Ribs
These vegan 'ribs' are made with tempeh and a homemade barbecue sauce for a delicious and hearty plant-based meal.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
- Tomato sauce - 1 cup
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Tempeh - 16 oz
Let's Get Started
- Cut the tempeh into 'rib' sized pieces and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the garlic and onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add the tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to the pan and stir to combine.
- Add the tempeh to the pan and coat with the sauce.
- Cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes, until the tempeh is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the tempeh 'ribs' with extra sauce on the side.
