Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, tapioca starch, and water. Stir until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the ground pork, dried mushrooms, shallots, fish sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Place a piece of banana leaf in a cupcake mold or small bowl to create a cup shape.
  4. Fill the cup with the rice flour mixture, leaving space for the filling.
  5. Add a spoonful of the pork and mushroom filling into the center of the cup.
  6. Fold the banana leaf over the filling to enclose it.
  7. Repeat the process for the remaining ingredients.
  8. Steam the banh gio cups for about 45-60 minutes, or until the rice cake is cooked and firm.
  9. Remove from the steamer and let cool slightly before serving.
  10. Serve warm with dipping sauce or soy sauce.
