Banh Chung

This traditional Vietnamese dish is made with sticky rice, mung beans, and pork wrapped in banana leaves.

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Soak the sticky rice and mung beans in separate bowls of water overnight.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the pork, onion, garlic, fish sauce, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Drain the sticky rice and mung beans and add to the pork mixture. Mix until well combined.
  4. Lay out the banana leaves and spoon the mixture into the center of each leaf.
  5. Fold the banana leaves into a square and tie with kitchen twine.
  6. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the banh chung. Simmer for 6 hours.
  7. Remove the banh chung from the pot and let cool before serving.
