Banana Pudding
This creamy and delicious banana pudding is made with layers of vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and a rich custard.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Whipped cream - 1 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Egg yolks - 3
- Milk - 2 1/2 cups
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Granulated sugar - 3/4 cup
- Ripe bananas - 4, sliced
- Vanilla wafers - 1 box
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar, flour, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
- Remove from heat.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks.
- Gradually whisk about 1 cup of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks.
- Pour the egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Layer the vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and custard in a serving dish.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of custard on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- Before serving, top with whipped cream and additional banana slices, if desired.
