Banana Pudding

Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, flour, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks.
  6. Gradually whisk about 1 cup of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks.
  7. Pour the egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  9. Layer the vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and custard in a serving dish.
  10. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of custard on top.
  11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  12. Before serving, top with whipped cream and additional banana slices, if desired.
