Pastel de Tres Leches
A super moist and delicious cake soaked in a mixture of three kinds of milk.
Ingredients - Serves 12
- Maraschino cherries - For topping
- Whipped cream - For topping
- Heavy cream - 1/2 cup
- Sweetened condensed milk - 1 cup
- Evaporated milk - 1 cup
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- Eggs - 5
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup, softened
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes into it with a fork and slowly pour the milk mixture over it, letting it soak in.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour, or until chilled.
- Top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries before serving.
