Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes into it with a fork and slowly pour the milk mixture over it, letting it soak in.
  6. Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour, or until chilled.
  7. Top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries before serving.
