Bai Sach Chrouk
Bai Sach Chrouk is a popular Cambodian dish made with grilled pork, served over rice with fresh herbs and pickled vegetables.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Pickled vegetables (carrots, daikon) - 1 cup
- Fresh herbs (cilantro, mint, basil) - 1 cup, chopped
- Jasmine rice - 2 cups, cooked
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Lemongrass - 2 stalks, minced
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Pork shoulder - 1 lb, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, lemongrass, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper.
- Add the sliced pork to the marinade and let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill the marinated pork slices for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Remove the grilled pork from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the grilled pork into thin strips.
- To serve, place a scoop of cooked jasmine rice on each plate.
- Top the rice with the sliced grilled pork.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and pickled vegetables.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
