Bacon and Caramelized Onion Pizza
A delicious homemade pizza topped with crispy bacon and sweet caramelized onions.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Mozzarella cheese - 2 cups, shredded
- Bacon - 6 slices, cooked and crumbled
- Onions - 2 large, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pizza dough - 1 lb
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. If you're using a pizza stone, transfer the dough to a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet dusted with flour.
- Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the dough, leaving a border for the crust. Top with the crumbled bacon and cheeses.
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone, if using) and bake until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned, about 12-15 minutes.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
