Agedashi Tofu
Agedashi Tofu is a simple yet delicious Japanese tofu dish. Deep-fried tofu is served in a flavorful dashi-based broth, making it a perfect appetizer or side dish.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Bonito flakes - A handful
- Daikon radish - 1/4, grated
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Dashi - 2 cups
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
- Firm tofu - 1 block
Let's Get Started
- Cut the tofu into cubes and pat dry with paper towels.
- Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pot, combine the dashi, soy sauce, and mirin and bring to a boil.
- Place the fried tofu in serving bowls and pour the dashi mixture over the top.
- Garnish with green onions, grated daikon radish, and bonito flakes before serving.
