Ingredients - Serves 4
- Bonito flakes - A handful
- Daikon radish - 1/4, grated
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Dashi stock - 2 cups
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
- Firm tofu - 1 block
Let's Get Started
- Cut the tofu into cubes and pat dry with paper towels.
- Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
- Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pot, combine the dashi stock, soy sauce, and mirin and bring to a simmer.
