Aebleskiver

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Preheat an aebleskiver pan over medium heat and lightly grease each well with butter or cooking spray.
  5. Fill each well with batter, filling it about 3/4 full.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the edges start to set and become golden brown.
  7. Using a skewer or fork, carefully flip each aebleskiver over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until cooked through and golden brown on all sides.
  8. Transfer the cooked aebleskiver to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter.
  9. Serve the aebleskiver warm, dusted with powdered sugar and accompanied by jam for dipping.
