Wasabi Mac and Cheese

A spicy twist on a classic comfort food, this wasabi mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy, and has a kick of heat from the wasabi.

Ingredients

  • Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Wasabi paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Sharp cheddar cheese - 2 cups, shredded
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • All - purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Butter - 2 tablespoons
  • Macaroni - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour until smooth.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, then bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  5. Reduce heat, add the cheese and wasabi paste, and stir until the cheese is melted.
  6. Season with salt and pepper, then add the cooked macaroni and stir until well coated.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, then sprinkle with bread crumbs.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
