This unique twist on the classic French dessert combines the flavors of tarte tatin and cappuccino for a delicious and indulgent treat.

Ingredients

  • Cocoa powder - For dusting
  • Whipped cream - For serving
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Espresso - 1/2 cup, strong
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Butter - 4 tablespoons
  • Apples - 4 large, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • Puff pastry - 1 sheet

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into a circle slightly larger than your baking dish.
  3. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and cinnamon, and cook until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is caramelized.
  4. Add the sliced apples to the skillet and cook until they are tender and coated in the caramel sauce.
  5. Transfer the caramelized apples to a greased baking dish and arrange them in an even layer.
  6. Place the puff pastry circle on top of the apples, tucking in the edges.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
  8. While the tart is baking, prepare the cappuccino. In a small saucepan, heat the espresso and milk over medium heat until hot.
  9. Using a frother or whisk, froth the milk until it becomes creamy and foamy.
  10. Once the tart is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  11. To serve, slice the tart into wedges and place each slice in a bowl. Pour the cappuccino over the tart, and top with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder.
  12. Enjoy the unique combination of flavors in this Tarte Tatin Cappuccino!
