Swiss Chard and Caramelized Onion Tart

This savory tart features a delicious combination of Swiss chard, caramelized onions, and creamy cheese.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Gruyere cheese - 1 cup, grated
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Eggs - 3
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onions - 2 large, thinly sliced
  • Swiss chard - 1 bunch, stems removed and leaves chopped
  • Pie crust - 1, store-bought or homemade

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and press it into a tart pan. Trim any excess crust.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and chopped Swiss chard to the skillet. Cook until the chard is wilted, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Spread the caramelized onion and Swiss chard mixture evenly over the pie crust.
  7. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the vegetables.
  8. Sprinkle the grated Gruyere cheese on top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tart is set and golden brown.
  10. Allow the tart to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
