Sukuti Sadeko

Sukuti Sadeko is a popular Nepali dish made with dried meat (sukuti) that is marinated and stir-fried with spices and herbs.

Ingredients

  • Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - To taste
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili - 2, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Sukuti (dried meat) - 250 grams

Instructions

  1. Soak the sukuti in warm water for 10 minutes to soften it. Drain the water and cut the sukuti into small pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chili. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the sukuti pieces to the pan and stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until they become crispy.
  5. In a small bowl, mix cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Add this spice mixture to the pan and mix well with the sukuti.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously to coat the sukuti with the spices.
  7. Remove from heat and drizzle lemon juice over the sukuti sadeko. Mix well to combine.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and serve hot as an appetizer or snack.
