This spicy fried chicken recipe is crispy, flavorful, and packed with heat.
Ingredients
Vegetable oil - For frying
Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
Cayenne pepper - 1 tablespoon
Paprika - 1 tablespoon
Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
All - purpose flour - 1 cup
Hot sauce - 2 tablespoons
Buttermilk - 1 cup
Chicken pieces - 8 pieces (legs, thighs, or wings)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat. Let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing firmly to adhere.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the chicken pieces in the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
Fry the chicken for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
Transfer the fried chicken to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve hot and enjoy the crispy and spicy fried chicken!
