Crispy and flavorful fried chicken that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Vegetable oil - 4 cups (for frying)
Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
Paprika - 1 teaspoon
Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
Salt - 2 teaspoons
All - purpose flour - 2 cups
Buttermilk - 2 cups
Chicken pieces - 8 pieces (legs, thighs, or wings)
Instructions
Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Make sure all the chicken pieces are coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Remove the chicken pieces from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, making sure to coat all sides evenly.
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding the pan. Fry for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
Transfer the fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Repeat the frying process with the remaining chicken pieces.
